What to know about Seychelles.
Granite islands, white sand, and the giant tortoises of Aldabra.
The Seychelles are unique in the Indian Ocean — the inner islands are granite, not coral, which gives them their signature look (smooth boulders rising from white sand and turquoise water). The outer atolls — Aldabra in particular — are the closest you get to a private Galápagos: a UNESCO biosphere with a hundred and fifty thousand giant tortoises and almost no human presence.
Frequently asked.
When to charter the Seychelles?
Year-round. April–October is the south-east trades (cooler, drier, better for the inner islands). November–March is north-west (calmer, better for the outer islands).
What does it cost?
Mid 50m motor: €130,000–€220,000/wk base + APA 35%. Higher than Med equivalents due to remoteness.
Inner or outer?
Inner islands (Mahé, Praslin, La Digue) for the granite-and-coconut postcards. Outer islands (Aldabra, Cosmoledo) for the empty atolls and the giant tortoises.
