About

How the desk works.

YachtAuthorities is a private superyacht-intelligence company. We have no listings page in the usual sense — instead, the desk works with three or four hundred owners and clients each year, quietly matching boats to weeks.

01. We are not a listings business.

The desk is built around a single role: knowing the boats, knowing the clients, and quietly putting them together. We work alongside the charter houses and central agents of the industry — we simply don't style ourselves as one. What we are is the desk: the people who hold the relationships.

02. We earn our keep on the desk side.

Our charter commissions are paid by the central agents, on the standard MYBA terms. Our owner advisory is paid by the owner, at an annual retainer disclosed up front. Nothing else, nothing in between.

03. Membership is complimentary.

We extend invitations to about three or four new members each month — friends of existing members, owners we meet at boat shows, clients introduced by yards we trust. We don't take a fee for membership and we don't resell our list.

04. We are quieter than the industry expects.

No press releases. No glossy magazine. No newsletter unless you ask. The Thursday Brief is the only thing we write, and it goes to about seven thousand inboxes — most of which still read every issue.

Most of yachting is performance. We try to be useful instead.
